15 Days That Will Haunt Vince McMahon Forever

15. January 26, 2014: The Royal Rumble Debacle

When the 2014 Royal Rumble match began, fans in the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh were adamant that Daniel Bryan would make an appearance, despite losing in the exciting opening match. So when he didn€™t, they turned on the match, turning on everyone, including easily-predicted winner Batista and perennial fan favorite Rey Mysterio. That night, Vince learned the hard way that he can€™t always do what he wants at the fans€™ expense. He had to completely change the WrestleMania XXX line-up, due to fan reaction and internal problems stemming from the Royal Rumble event. All of Vince€™s long-term plans were thrown into disarray by the Pittsburgh crowd, leading to Daniel Bryan€™s main event ascent. While this was a much more popular and well-received main event than the proposed Orton-Batista main event, Vince is certainly still fuming at the fans in the arena on that fateful night, when they hijacked the Royal Rumble and threw a monkey wrench in his plans.
