3. Squaring Off In 2010

When Christian returned to WWE in 2009, after a four-year stint in TNA, one of the programmes that fans immediately began hoping for was a top-line Edge versus Christian feud. In Christian's absence, Edge had risen to the top of the card as the Rated-R Superstar. He was a genuine star, and the belief was that by pairing him up with Christian, he could elevate his real-life best friend. That never happened, despite WWE writers endlessly pitching it and WWE fans desperate to see it. Fortunately, we did get a one-on-one match between the two, on the May 17th 2010 Raw. Christian was the surprise opponent for Edge, picked by Randy Orton (who was feuding with Edge at the time). The two had a very competitive, water-tight fifteen-minute match. Despite not being a total show-stealer or anything, both men's performances were good, and it was fun to see them square off almost a decade after their singles feud ended. Both men had come a long way in that time, and it showed in their work here.
