In the old days, pro wrestlers might genuinely be booked to face off against a real life bear for the entertainment of the live audience. The bear (usually an old pro by this point) would be wheeled out and run through the basic sequence of moves and story that he or she had been carefully taught, providing the crowd with a show theyd never forget, no matter how hard they tried.
