15 Greatest Heel Moments At WrestleMania

2. The Fans Passionately Support The Heel - WrestleMania XVIII

Wrestlemania's history is littered with good guy vs good guy, star vs star and champion vs champion matches. But only once in its history has the full fledged heel been cheered louder than the most popular face and that was Wrestlemania XVIII. The Rock was by far and away the most popular wrestler in the WWE at the time (and arguably the most popular ever) and Hulk Hogan had just returned from the newly acquired WCW as the detestable heel. The WWE setup a Heel vs Superstar match dubbed, icon vs icon in the Toronto Skydome. The WWE expected there may be a few nostalgic cheers in the crowd for the Hulkster but did not expect that the crowd would flat out get behind the Immortal one against its most popular superstar. In what might be the loudest moment of support ever heard in wrestling, when Hulk Hogan 'hulked up' and prepared for his comeback against the Rock the crowd went completely bananas and were 100% in the corner of the thought to be hated 'heel'. The match was an absolute classic and even though Hogan ended up losing the match the match will be best remembered for the crowd reaction it inspired. The crowd uniformly behind the established 'heel' represents one of the most memorable heel moments in Wrestlemania history.
