15 Greatest WCW Tag Teams Of All Time

11. Doom

Doom, comprised of Ron Simmons and Butch Reed, were another short-lived but memorable tag team. They teamed from 1989-1991 and won the NWA/WCW Tag Team Championships one time. The team were introduced by the late Nancy 'Woman' Benoit, who had turned on the Steiners and promised them that they would meet their 'Doom' at Halloween Havoc 1989, but never made clear what exactly that meant. The Steiners found out on the night when they were confronted with Simmons and Reed, who were competing under black masks. They may have been wrestling under masks but, considering there were only two black wrestlers on the NWA roster at the time, their identity was no secret. It was a good debut and performance from Doom, who won the match. Doom lost the masks shortly after and beat the Steiners again, this time for Tag Team Championship. Doom got really good, really fast. They were no-nonsense ass-kickers and got over huge with their believable style. They teamed for a couple of years before their inevitable breakup which led to a Thunder-Doom Cage Match (think a budget Hell In A Cell) at the original Superbrawl event. Reed left the company shortly after and Simmons went on to become the first black WCW Champion in history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQlzvp4a1-c
