Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard, two of the founding members of legendary stable The Four Horseman, were another in a long line of great 1980s tag teams. It really was a phenomenal decade for tag team wrestling. Arn and Tully began teaming in 1986 and immediately went after the NWA Tag Team Championship, having stellar matches with the Rcok & Roll Express, who they beat for the belts. They got a rare win over The Road Warriors in the Warriors' home town of Chicago at Starrcade 1987. It was business as usual from then on for Tully and Arn, who were a no frills tag team and total ring generals. Nobody could cut the ring off as good as they could. Go back and look at some of their matches during this era against the likes of Sting & Nikita Koloff and see how they control the pace of the match. Some current WWE stars would be well-suited to do the same, as great tag team wrestling has become something of a lost art in recent years. Blanchard and Anderson left the promotion in 1989 after discovering that their manager, JJ Dillon, was receiving more money than they were for doing nowhere near as much work. They went to the WWF where they were rechristened The Brain Busters and had some fantastic matches against The Rockers and The Hart Foundation. Blanchard failed a drug test and was fired and Arn and Tully's days of teaming were over but, when they were on, there was no heel duo better than them.
