Scott Hall and Kevin Nash changed the business when they 'invaded' WCW programming in 1996. They had been granted contract releases from the WWF but were depicted on WCW television as still belonging to the 'other' company. That was until the WWF sent them a cease and desist letter and threatened them with further legal action. The Outsiders invasion lay the groundwork for the enormously successful nWo angle. After being revealed as the third man at Bash at the Beach 96, Hogan, Hall and Nash were the hottest thing in wrestling. Hogan usually worked the main event while Nash and Hall fought for the Tag Team Championship, which they won at Halloween Havoc by defeating Harlem Heat. The Outsiders were some of the first 'cool heels'. They were supposed to be bad guys but because of how they acted and how they were booked, the audience began to cheer them. It's not hard to see why, when you look at how pathetic some mid-90's babyfaces were. Who wouldn't cheer the cocky and imposing Hall and Nash over them? The Outsiders did not make many friends backstage and were often disrespectful to their colleagues. Scott Hall was fond of telling everyone that he wasn't in the 'friendship business' but the wrestling business and that they didn't pay him to make friends whilst Hall tried to hold back people's careers when he was given booking power in 99. A polarising tag team, but undoubtedly important to the history of WCW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VlCJVAucho
