15 Instances Of The WWE Royal Rumble "14" Curse

14. The British Bulldog

Rumble He Drew '14': 1991 How Was He Cursed?: It didn't start off as a curse. In fact, it was almost the opposite at first, with Bulldog main eventing SummerSlam 1992 in his home country of England, defeating Bret Hart in what many feel is one of the greatest matches in wrestling history. Things took a different turn only a couple short months after SummerSlam, though, when Bulldog was released from the company for his part in receiving shipments of Human Growth Hormone. He would sign with WCW, but would be released a few months later after getting into a fight with a man in a bar, who would file a lawsuit. His return to the WWF made things look like they were heading in the right direction again. He nearly won the Royal Rumble in 1995, and a heel turn later in the year gave him a handful of WWF Title matches in pay-per-view main events. Eventually, he would become a member of the new Hart Foundation, involved in a feud with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and that set the wrestling world on fire. Unfortunately, he would leave the company after the Montreal Screwjob took place at Survivor Series 1997. In 1998, Bulldog would nearly lose his life during a match, when he landed back-first on a trap door that had been set up in the ring for flashy entrances by the Ultimate Warrior. The bump resulted in a spinal infection that put him in the hospital for over six months, and nearly left him paralyzed. While in the hospital, he was released from WCW. After his wife filed for divorce in 2000, he would be sent to rehab for problems with drug addiction, and would be released from the WWF yet again after an uninspired run. Not even two years later, he was dead at the age of 39 after suffering a heart attack brought on in part by his years of drug use.
