15 MORE Wrestlers WWE Debuted In The Worst Way Possible

6. The Spirit Squad

Even when you consider that The Spirit Squad debuted nearly 20 years ago, making their first appearance on Monday Night Raw on January 23rd, 2006, this awful gimmick felt dated. For the longest time, authenticity has yielded the greatest results, and so this group of male cheerleaders felt doomed from the start.

Sporting matching green and white tank tops and tracksuit pants, these 6 rookies were chiefly used as a group of goons for Shane and Vince McMahon (quelle surprise) in their feud with the dad joke era of D-Generation X. They made up lame cheers insulting whoever they were feuding with, in a way that came off as unfunny and annoying more than raising chuckles or generating heat.

The only reason this gimmick is even slightly remembered is that one of the Spirit Squad was Dolph Ziggler. He managed to escape the clutches of this ridiculous gimmick, reducing it to a footnote in an otherwise respectable career, while his fellow stablemates were all eventually let go without making a dent on the main roster.
