15 MORE Wrestling Gimmicks That Got Weird Rip-Offs

4. Razor Ramon HG

HUSTLE

The image above would reveal no clue that what you are looking at is a Razor Ramon imposter. Primarily because you're not, but the 'Bad Guy's name can be found if you Google the comedian Masaki Sumitan, who somewhat inexplicably lifted the name wholesale before adding "HG" (latterly to stand for Hot Guy, if only following a 2022 change to bring it up to more contemporary standards of acceptance) for his run in the positively deranged HUSTLE promotion in the mid-2000s.

Decked out in PVC, entering to Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca and endlessly flexing an almost inhuman ability to thrust his groin with the speed of a Bron Breakker spear, there was absolutely nothing that linked the gimmick to the moniker, which was another reason why it was so funny.

A fondly-remembered comedy wrestler for the most part, Sumitan's legacy is a mixed one. Racking up 70 matches between his 2005 debut and 2024, his ring-time reveals that he was more than just a dated one-note-joke with an incongruous label. Discovering eventually that Sumitan was actually straight resulted in the persona being one that realistically punched down rather than embracing any sort of culture.
