The feud between Triple H and Kurt Angle in the summer of 2000 made for some of the best television in WWE history. Their mutual infatuation for Stephanie McMahon created a love triangle that dominated Raw and SmackDown for months on end. Angle took advantage of a concussed Stephanie and kissed her prior to the SummerSlam pay-per-view in August, intensifying the issues between him and The Game. Eventually, the feud between the Superstars culminated in a wildly anticipated match at Unforgiven the following month. Unfortunately, the competitors involved missed the memo about the hatred that was supposed to exist between them. Rather than working an intense and emotional match, the Superstars worked a traditional match, complete with Angle working over the ribs of his opponent. The match completely sucked...the air out of the audience and left them wondering where the animosity between the competitors was. Triple H won the match when Stephanie delivered a low blow to her friend Angle, picking up the victory following a Pedigree. Not only was the match mind-numbingly boring, it also brought with it a dissatisfying conclusion to an angle that had captivated the audience at a time when WWE's television product was as great as it had ever been.
