wikipediaThere can be little doubt that the match between Owen and Bret Hart at WrestleMania 10 is the finest opening contest in professional wrestling history. Forget WrestleMania, forget the WWE in general - there's no opener that tops it. It was technically magnificent, and it told a brilliant story between two brothers who had taken very different paths. But believe it or not, it almost didn't even come to fruition. That brother vs. brother rivalry was brilliant, but originally, the WWE wanted a different Hart brother to take to the ring with Bret. Owen wasn't even scripted to be in that rivalry at the start, before an intervention from Bret arguably changed the course of both their careers. With Bret passionately batting for Owen to get the gig against him at WrestleMania, the WWE eventually backed down and let Bret have his wish. And as they say, the rest is very much history.
