8. Andre Was Almost Too Ill To Fight Hogan At WrestleMania 3
Talk about iconic WrestleMania moments, and there are surely a few that stick out above the rest. Of course, Brock Lesnar's win at WrestleMania 30 is a recent inclusion to a list of that description, but surely nothing gets close to Hulk Hogan vs. Andre The Giant. That slam. THAT slam that sent shudders around the world (probably literally) remains one of the most poignant and pivotal moments in the history of WrestleMania - but it was nearly oh so different. As we all know, Andre suffered some unfortunate health problems towards the latter end of his career, and they had started to come into play around the time of WrestleMania 3. In fact, Andre's position in the match was in real jeopardy in the weeks prior to the event, and the WWE genuinely considered the possibility of nixing the contest. Paul Orndoff turned on Hogan in the months leading up to Mania - and Andre's deteriorating health was the main reason why. Orndoff was Plan B for the main event, and would have taken Andre's slot had he been unable to compete. But thankfully, Andre made it. And although his life would be tragically cut short, he provided the world with a wrestling moment that truly stands the test of time.
