Joanie Laurer was one of the most ground-breaking female wrestlers in the history of the business. With a physique that would embarrass most of her male counterparts, Chyna became an iconic anti-Diva and is still the only female Intercontinental Champion in history. Unfortunately she was also involved with Triple H in a romantic relationship backstage, and when he left her for Stephanie McMahon she really lost a lot of control over her life. Jim Ross hinted in his Podcast conversation with her former partner Sean Waltman that after her breakup with Hunter, her instability meant that it was only really a matter of time until she left the Fed. Chyna understandably struggled with Hunters betrayal and this became a catalyst of sorts for future problems. Since leaving WWE, Chynas life has sadly become a real life parable on how poisonous mental illness and substance abuse can be. Her drug problems are well documented and she is unfortunately now well-known now for bizarre public appearances where she is intoxicated and on the verge of a mental breakdown. She has allowed her drug abuse to become entertainment in her desperation for attention and there has been no better example of this that when she allowed herself to partake in rehabilitation on a cheap and exploitative addiction recovery show, Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aDPNwrIe4Q Arguably her lowest point came though when an infamous sex tape between her and Waltman was leaked to the public. This has led to Laurer undertaking a career in the adult film business, and while there is obviously nothing wrong with consenting adults taking part in the adult film industry, it seems like quite a fall from grace for a woman who was undoubtedly one of the most iconic female wrestlers of all time. And her film career has not been without its price she has stated that shed love to get back into wrestling, but neither the PG WWE nor even the more adult oriented TNA wants to go near her because of it.
