15 Most Shocking WrestleMania Moments Of All Time

8. Hulk Hogan Walks Out As WWF Champion At Wrestlemania 9

The main event of Wrestlemania 9 was Bret Hart defending the WWF Championship against Yokozuna. For the first time since Wrestlemania 4, and only the second time since WrestleMania's inception, Hulk Hogan was relegated to the midcard, as he teamed with Brutus Beefcake to take on Money Incorporated for the Tag Team Titles. So how did it happen that Hogan was the one walking out with the championship at the end of the night? As it turned out, Yokozuna beat Bret Hart for the belt after Mr. Fuji threw salt in Bret's eyes. Hogan came out, seemingly to check on his "friend" Bret, but Mr. Fuji taunted Hogan, and Yokozuna challenged him then and there for the title. Hogan quickly defeated Yoko in an impromptu match, and shockingly won the championship. In hindsight, this was an unconscionable move that set back the WWF after it had moved on from the aging Hogan. At the time, Hogan's triumphant return to the top of the card was welcomed by his already established fanbase. And good idea or not, it was plenty shocking.
