12. Lex Luger Celebrates...Not Winning The WWF Title (1993)

SummerSlam 1993's main event saw Lex Luger facing defending WWF Champion Yokozuna, and the match had two stipulations beforehand: if Lex lost, he would never get a rematch, and that he had to cover the metal plate in his forearm with an armpad.

At the end of the match, however, Luger decided to remove the armpad and nail Yoko with a forearm smash when the referee wasn't looking. The problem? This sent Yoko falling outside the ring where, because of his size, he was unable to get up, leading to a countout victory for Luger.

That's a lame enough ending to an otherwise relatively decent match, but things get weirder. Luger's theme blares out triumphantly, red, white and blue balloons fall from the ceiling and the likes of Tatanka and the Steiner Brothers come out to help Lex celebrate a hard-earned victory...by countout...so he didn't win the title.

Vince McMahon desperately tries to impart some excitement into Luger's hollow victory over commentary, but frankly most of the crowd looks bored and deflated, and Luger just seems confused that he's getting such a rapturous celebration for a countout victory.

As for why Vince didn't just give Lex the title? According to Luger, other wrestlers reportedly threatened to leave if he won the strap, so Vince yielded.
