15 Terrible Matches Triple H Wants You To Forget

12. Triple H Vs. Chris Jericho - WrestleMania X8

Chris Jericho didn't stand a chance as Undisputed Champion. Although talented, he was completely overshadowed by the likes of Steve Austin, The Rock, the nWo and, yes, Triple H. In the buildup to his big WrestleMania showdown he was completely emasculated by Stephanie McMahon and frequently outsmarted by The Game. The buildup sucked (remember Jericho picking up Lucy's poop?) and more people were looking forward to the showdown between Hulk Hogan and The Rock. Indeed, The Hulkster versus The Great One was the real main event of the show, even if no championships were on the line. It should have gone on last, no doubt. But Triple H didn't see it that way. He demanded that he and Y2J go on last, since it was the Championship match. He must have thought that he and Jericho, who'd had some decent matches together in the past, could follow it. How wrong he was. Nothing could follow the spectacle of Rock and Hogan which had the crowd going nuts from start to finish. The upshot was that Triple H and Jericho had a mediocre match in front of a clearly burned-out crowd. It was not the heroic WrestleMania triumph that Triple H must have been imagining for months beforehand.
