15 Terrible Matches Triple H Wants You To Forget

13. Triple H Vs. Randy Orton - Unforgiven 2004

Triple H had a pretty good 2004 after a couple of rotten years in the ring. From his comeback in January 2002 until March 2004, Trips was accused of being selfish backstage and past his prime between the ropes. He was carrying too much muscle and got injured a lot as a result. He wasn't the same Triple H who had great matches with everyone in 2000 and 2001. But in early 2004 he started showing flashes of old brilliant against Chris Benoit and Shawn Michaels. Then he reverted back to his old ways once the Benoit feud was over, senselessly beating Eugene and derailing new World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton. Orton won the belt from Chris Benoit at SummerSlam but, when he flopped as a babyface (he was naturally dislikable) WWE panicked and put the belt on Triple H the next month at Unforgiven. There was another reason: with WWE's Taboo Tuesday PPV on the horizon, Triple H thought that it was a bad move to have three heel challengers for the fans to vote for and that a heel champion made more sense. Yeah, sure it did, Trips. To make matters worse, the Orton Unforgiven clash completely sucked. Slow, bereft of crowd heat and overbooked, it did neither man any favours.
