15 Things We Learned From Vince McMahon On The Steve Austin Show

14. Sports Entertainment

Austin tells McMahon that he does "pro wrestling", but Vince reinforces the point that it is called "sports entertainment" in this day and age. McMahon's reason for this is because WWE is about telling stories. He makes the point that WWE would be boring if it was just a wrestling match, the only thing that gives the match worth is the story behind it. That's partly true, although it is easy enough to enjoy an athletic contest without any creative build. McMahon paints "pro wrestling" as antiquated and belonging in a past era. Austin clearly feels differently and refers to "pro wrestling" throughout.
