15 Things We Learned From Vince McMahon On The Steve Austin Show
13. Vince Thinks Current Superstars "Lack Ambition"
Something Austin observes to Vince is that today's WWE superstars are "walking around on eggshells." It's a pretty critical statement, and Vince actually agrees. Austin sees it as a bad thing that people are scared to rock the boat and McMahon puts it down to people lacking ambition. Shockingly, he actually buries his own wrestlers, literally saying the roster is "not ambitious." He believes this is because they are "millenials" and don't have the same drive as Austin's era of talent. That's true, but it a pretty bold thing to admit. The fact is, in Austin's day a talent would call management out on questionable decisions. It's how business should be done, everyone should be held to account (especially those in charge) and the result is the product gets better. McMahon is partly to blame, as he's created the toxic atmosphere in which talent don't feel like they can speak up. Austin was getting at that, but Vince simply blamed his ambition lacking roster. McMahon does however say that Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns are reaching for the brass ring (which he doesn't believe anyone has reached for since Cena in 2005). So, expect big pushes for Wyatt, Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns in 2015.
