15 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Mick Foley's Hell In A Cell

3. A Poignant WWE Warehouse Trip

That trauma is very real for Mick too, and this story proves it.

Noelle didn't specify exactly when this trip happened, but she does remember visiting the WWE archives warehouse with her dad a few years back. They looked through some old stuff and generally had a blast, but then Foley came face to face with the same Hell In A Cell cage he'd worked in back in 1998. Mick reached out to touch the thing, then instantly broke down and started crying.

The most poignant thing about all of this is that Noelle had "never" seen her father cry before. Mick was so overcome with emotion that he wept for a while whilst holding onto the steel mesh. Perhaps all of the painful memories came flooding back to him, or maybe Foley was having some personal epiphany about what he'd put his family through whilst chasing the buzz that comes from pleasing thousands of screaming wrestling fans.

It feels like a slight missed opportunity that VICE didn't follow up on Noelle's comments by asking Mick for some of his own. It's a great story for sure, but arguably needed a little more context from the man himself. Maybe we'll never know precisely what was running through Foley's head that day at the WWE warehouse.

Who knows if he even expected to see the actual Cell structure in person again anyway? It's possible that Mick and Noelle were only at the warehouse to shoot something for the now-defunct WWE Network, or YouTube. Perhaps Foley was blindsided by an old friend/enemy.
