15 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Mick Foley's Hell In A Cell

4. Noelle Has No Memories Of Her Dad Wrestling

This is a shocking admission.

Foley’s daughter Noelle told 'Dark Side' producers that she literally can't remember much of anything about her dad's biggest or most violent matches. She's blocked out the trauma of seeing her father in some seriously brutal situations over the years and Noelle can’t really remember being there for major events or seeing him work at all.

She's particularly dead set against the 1999 Royal Rumble showing. “It’s sickening, honestly. I really, really hate the ‘I Quit’ match”, she said. Nobody can blame Noelle for that. Her mother yelped in sympathy pains and clutched her children as The Rock caved Mick's skull in with bloody chair shot after bloody chair shot, and then the kids looked up at their dad backstage with complete bewilderment.

There's an emotional crack in Noelle's voice when remembering the '99 Rumble. To this day, she can't bring herself to watch it or really recall too much about what it was like to be there live. Footage of fans sitting nearby revelling in the violence is pretty distressing to watch, being honest. Those people weren't necessarily doing anything wrong, and they probs thought the Foley's were in on the act, but Colette and the kids weren't acting.

It'd be interesting to find out which of Foley's most cherished matches Noelle can watch. Can she sit through HIAC wars vs. 'Taker and Triple H (at No Way Out 2000)? Some of his deathmatches from Japan? Someone needs to ask her what bouts she enjoys from her father's legendary career. Some of it must be palatable, but it's understandable that trauma has blanked most of the gnarliest bits.
