15 Things We Learned From Scott Hall On Steve Austin Show Part 2
10. The Curtain Call
Next we dive into the infamous Madison Square Garden curtain call when the departing Scott Hall and Kevin Nash were joined in the ring by Shawn Michaels and Sean Waltman to break kayfabe and say goodbye to the fans and each other. Austin asks about that moment, confused thinking that Hall cut a promo on Vince. Scott replies that he didn't actually get on the mic, but when the fans began chanting "You sold out! You sold out!" he pointed at Vince and said "You tell him to pay me and I'll stay right here." Steve asks what the feeling was like when they went backstage and he said that Vince wanted to talk to him. He had gone off on his boss six months prior and asked what areas of his work he needed to improve so he could make more money and Vince told him he was happy with the job he was doing. That night at the garden McMahon asked him how much WCW offered him, and he said they were past that point because he was leaving to go work for WCW the next day. When Hall told him what he'd be making Vince was impressed, saying that was good money was business is good but that at the time both companies were struggling. Hall said he remembers driving away that night apprehensively thinking "What have I done?"
