11. The Best Dog Ever & Bears

As was often the case during the evening, Steiner sometimes veered away from the question he was meant to be answering and went on little tangents. Don't get me wrong, this is not a criticism. Far from it, actually, as Steiner provided many interesting anecdotes about his life and career when he went off-script, so to speak. Case in point, his talking about his dog Arnold, who used to accompany the Steiners to ringside from time to time. Scott clearly loved this dog, talking about how it used to play dead when 'shot' and would high-five his owner and roll over and so on. It also used to mess with other wrestlers, as Steiner would call to 'get the cat' while pointing at his foe, causing Arnold to give chase. When Steiner refused to drop the US Title, Bill Watts was going to go into Scott's bag to retrieve it, so Big Poppa Pump placed Arnold on top to guard it. The belt remained in the bag. When answering a later question, Steiner started talking at length about bears. Yes, bears. Turns out Steiner has one-lunged Vietnam vet uncle who lives in Michigan and owns a bear ranch named 'Oswald's'. Steiner estimates that his uncle has about thirty bears. As host 'F**k' Kenny McIntosh said, 'Scott Steiner on a bear ranch is a reality show waiting to happen'. Steiner, reflecting on his uncle's vocation and lifestyle said 'now do you see why I'm maybe a little f***ed up?'.
