15 Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On Stone Cold's WWE Network Podcast

2. Using Sweet Chin Music

The two transition into talk about moves and Austin inquires as to how Shawn adopted the superkick as his finisher, asking if he got it from Chris Adams. Shawn responds that he did, and adds that the first time he saw him do it he jumped off the top rope before hitting his opponent with it. Michaels saw him doing it in matches and began incorporating it, and he and Marty Jannetty began doing double superkicks when they were together as The Rockers. When he became a singles wrestler he was using the superkick to set up his original finisher of a teardrop suplex and was working hard to get it over. Pat Patterson reached out to Shawn and told him that instead of doing the teardrop suplex he needed to give it up and make the superkick his finisher instead. It's worth noting here that Scott Hall has also taken credit for being the one to suggest that HBK adopt the Sweet Chin Music as his finishing move.
