15 Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On Stone Cold's WWE Network Podcast

8. The Curtain Call

IN another topic that's been covered until there's nothing new left to add, Stone Cold brings up the curtain call from the house show at Madison Square Garden where The Kliq broke character just prior to Hall and Nash leaving for WCW. He says he was backstage in shock that they were actually out there doing it and thought "WTF are these guys doing?" With Hall and Nash gone to WCW and Michaels firmly entrenches as the world champion, that left Triple H as the last man standing to absorb all the heat and take it on the chin, an edict from Vince McMahon himself. Austin says that Hunter was in line to win the 1996 King of the Ring and remembers walking across the parking lot in Lowell, Massachusetts. when Vince approached him to tell him that he was going to be winning the crown. Steve says that if that chain of events involving The Kliq had never taken place he doesn't think his stuff would have ever happened, and Shawn replies "Well, we'd just like to say on behalf of The Kliq, you're welcome."
