15 Things You Forgot About Triple H's Rise To Power In WWE

12. Self Starter

Triple H didn't wait around for someone to hand him opportunity, instead he went looking for success. As manager of the Nashau Gold's Gym, Levesque was attending a Gym Owners convention, when he found out WCW regional promoter Chip Burnham was in attendance. He ended up giving Chip a tape of his pro wrestling work (which he'd wisely put together to increase his profile). The end result was getting his first major gig, a contract with WCW. The old timers like Ric Flair and Arn Anderson were impressed with the rookie, noting that he had a bright future. This was six years before he dated Stephanie McMahon, so we can take this as proof Hunter was destined for big things regardless of relationships. Showing further business sense and self starter qualities, Levesque actually ended up negotiating his own deal with Eric Bischoff. He actually wanted less money and only a year deal. Showing long term vision, he didn't want to end up tied down if WCW failed to give him the push he wanted. That allowed him to jump to the WWF just a year later, where he was given greater opportunities. WCW was a worthwhile experience though. The Game met some of his key wrestling influences, notably Arn Anderson, William Regal and Terry Taylor. These proper wrestlers, with their old school mentality, influenced Hunter's philosophies to this very day.
