15 Things You Might Have Missed From Last Night’s WWE SmackDown

Tom Phillips is at his best when he's narrating the early parts of a feud. After that, he tends to get lost in himself and focuses more on ensuring he doesn't say the wrong thing, or tows the party line, rather than giving actual insight into the rivalry.

That came across loud and clear during SmackDown's main event.

Looking to hype the importance of the match, Phillips said that this was the first time AJ and Shinsuke had wrestled against one another "on this brand". That was an empty line, added nothing to the burning issues between the pairing and didn't make it seem any bigger.

Tom was trying to say that the pair had never worked a singles match on SmackDown, which is true, but it's a fairly moot point considering they've wrestled at WrestleMania, the Greatest Royal Rumble and at Backlash just recently.
