There are few promo men better than Samoa Joe in WWE right now, and that's hardly the kind of statement anyone would have expected to read a few short years ago. Joe, perhaps buoyed by getting the opportunity to talk, has found newfound confidence on the mic in the company.

He's also someone who remains aware of his character alignment at all times.

On SmackDown, Joe cut a backstage promo all about Friday's Intercontinental Title match at the Greatest Royal Rumble. He promised to destroy Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor, but stopped short of saying he'd do the same to The Miz.

Why? Well, Miz is a heel just like the Samoan, and there was a time when villains stuck together against the babyfaces. What a lovely old-school touch from Joe. He made sure to say he'd only beat The Miz if he had to.
