15 Unusual Ways To Lose A WWE Title

5. Leaving The Company

As the old saying goes, when you gotta go, you gotta go. In the world of wrestling, you can even go when you're one of it's main title holders. Of course that does mean immediately losing the championship. No longer working for a company means forfeiting any rights to their titles, even if you were never booked to lose it. Not being the official champion doesn't prevent whoever left with the title from keeping the physical belt however. Alundra Blayze left the WWE while still in possession of it's Women's Championship, and then famously threw it in a bin on WCW television (an act she now claims to regret having done). As part of his storyline that blurred the lines between reality and fiction, CM Punk won the WWE Championship on the same night that he left the company. Despite leaving with the physical title, his departure from the company meant he was no longer recognised as it's champion, and a tournament was created to crown a new one. Leaving a company with one of their titles is a surefire to cause a stir. Thankfully for WWE, people leaving the company with one of their championships is a rare occurrence, especially now there's not many places left to go.
