15 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Oct 23)

11. Brittsburgh, PA

Britt Baker
AEW

Britt Baker's homecoming celebration shows that AEW is still invested in her as a potential headliner in a growing women's division, despite her run not quite taking off to level they may have expected.

A well-crafted video package ran through Baker's duelling careers as a pro-wrestler and dentist. It sold her journey towards the top of both professions well and looked as slick and professional as you'd expect from WWE's production crew, let alone AEW's, leaving little doubt that on this night, Britt was a big deal worth paying attention to. Afterwards, Baker walked out for her match with the Pittsburgh Steelers' mascot, Steely McBeam, at her back.

While Baker was always going to get a big pop in her home city, the vignette tipped her over the edge, ensuring foundation-shaking noise as she walked down the ramp and immediate investment in the Jamie Hayter match. Why don't wrestling promotions do things like this more often?
