15 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (Oct 23)

9. The Young Bucks Tune Up

Effectively a tune-up Young Bucks bout ahead of their showdown with Santana and Ortiz, Matt and Nick Jackson's clash with Best Friends started slowly but heated up towards the end, making this exactly what a good television midcard bout should be.

Orange Cassidy getting superkicked to hell allowed the Best Friends to take an early advantage. Chuck Taylor and Trent isolated Nick from the get go and just like their match with Private Party, the Bucks were in heel mode, fighting with a snotty cockiness. They're great at this, and their willingness to revive this side of their act after Best Friends played villains against SoCal Uncensored last week, all without compromising credibility or crowd reactions, shows that AEW's fluid alignment scale is working.

A good match rather than a great one, the bout featured fewer adrenaline spikes than the other taggers on the card but crammed plenty of excitement into its third and final act. That's when the match came to life, with the Bucks reaching into their deep bag of athletic tricks to stifle Best Friends, ultimately putting them away with More Bang For Your Buck.
