15 Worst PPV Main Events Ever
13. Diesel Vs. King Mabel - SummerSlam 1995
The majority of the matches on this list have some sort of extenuating circumstances as to why they were terrible events, but this one is just a straight-up stinker from start to finish.
Mabel was fresh off a King of the Ring win that no-one was interested in, and Diesel during this period has often been referred to as the lowest-drawing champion in WWE history, so matching the two up was a recipe for disaster.
It's a prime example of what's wrong with the old WWF style of booking, which has been used for Hogan and as well, in which Vince McMahon will pick a top guy, put the title on him and then build one off Big Threats for them to overcome, expecting that's enough to get fans invested or interested.
Mabel versus Diesel only proved that this style of booking was no longer feasible in the mid-nineties, and over the next year WWF would start the slow process of clawing their way back to relevance with the emergence of stars like Austin, Rock and Mankind.
