The Kane/Undertaker conflict was played-out by 2010, but it was already wearing thin by late 1998. The two had been fighting one another for the best part of a year, having a seemingly never-ending series of matches. You'd think that after working with each other so many times, they'd be able to produce something at least moderately entertaining. You'd be wrong. Kane and 'Taker squared off in the main event of Judgment Day, with Steve Austin serving as the special guest referee. Austin was the best thing in the match by a mile, providing at least some entertainment when the storyline brothers couldn't. After liberal amounts of punches, chokes, chokes, rest holds and stalling, the usually lively Attitude Era crowd began growing restless. It was hard to blame them. After Austin and Paul Bearer inevitably got involved (it was predictable but at least provided some excitement), Austin wiped out both men and declared himself the winner. Only in the Attitude Era.
