15 Wrestlers’ Daughters Following In Their Parents’ Footsteps

8. Kayla Armstrong (Scott Armstrong)

For Kayla Armstrong, wrestling really is the family business. Her father, Scott Armstrong, is one of the most recognizable referees on WWE television today. Her uncle Brian is better known as one-half of the New Age Outlaws, the Road Dogg. Her uncles Steve and the late Brad Armstrong also were ring veterans, as was grandfather Bullet Bob Armstrong. Kayla apparently had a WWE tryout two years ago shortly after graduating college, but it doesn€™t seem to have materialized into a contract. Still, she seems undeterred, tweeting about her workouts and persevering. Then, there€™s this message to NXT general manager William Regal this spring: https://twitter.com/RealKArmstrong/status/465136638750765056 Could she be hinting at another opportunity with NXT? We could find out soon enough.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fondly remembers watching WrestleMania III, IV, V and VI and Saturday Night's Main Event, came back to wrestling during the Attitude Era, and has been a consumer of sports entertainment since then. He's written for WhatCulture for more than a decade, establishing the Ups and Downs articles for WWE Raw and WWE PPVs/PLEs and composing pieces on a variety of topics.
