Prime Years: 1975 - 85 (but, really, Terry Funk is timeless) Why He Should Be Studied: Longevity. That's something that very few in wrestling manage to have. Most current WWE superstar's careers will last around three years (that's the current average) before they get future endeavoured. Terry Funk has been wrestling since 1965 and, despite about thirty or so retirements, is still going at the ripe old age of 71. And why not? Funk clearly loves the business, the fans love him, and he always puts his heart and soul into every match he has. The reason Terry Funk has managed to have such a long career, is his ability to adapt, not only to new surroundings, but also the changing nature of the business. Terry went from being a straight-laced, smiling babyface to a raving madman, to beloved table-breaking godfather of hardcore wrestling. Fans loved and responded to Funk because he was completely unpredictable, unorthodox and owner of some of the most OTT mannerisms in wrestling. He's also a well-versed technical wrestler, as evidenced by some of his earlier matches in the NWA and in All Japan Pro-Wrestling. There are many different sides to the 'middle aged and crazy' Texas Bronco. Clearly, out of WWE's current crop of stars, Dean Ambrose is his biggest fan.
