15 Wrestlers Every WWE Superstar Should Study

5. Jake Roberts

Prime Years: 1986 - 1990 Why He Should Be Studied: Psychology. That's what Jake 'The Snake' Roberts brought to the table. Not the most athletically gifted wrestler, nor sporting any sort of impressive physique, Jake drew people in with his mind, not his body. Indeed, there are few wrestlers who understand the psychology of the business as much as Jake. Another strong element of Jake Robert's game is promos. In an era where heels usually ranted and raved at the top of their voices, gesticulating wildly, Roberts took a rather different approach, speaking in hushed tones in a calming manner. It made you listen to what he was actually saying, whilst also being oddly unsettling. No, you wouldn't study Jake's matches if you want to study the art of technical wrestling, but if you want to see a wrestler captivate people with his words and his mannerisms, then Jake is your man. Current WWE star Bray Wyatt would be well served by going back and watching some Jake Roberts promos.
