15 WWE Stars Who Thrived On Being Hated

6. Triple H

For the last fifteen years, the one near-constant in WWE has been Triple H. Short of missing time for injuries and his current semi-retirement, Hunter Hearst Helmsley has been a fixture of WWE programming for a long time. And for the majority of that period he's been a heel, something he's outspoken in his preference of. In recent years - much like his aforementioned wife - a segment of the audience has taken to blurring the lines between the man and the character, choosing to believe that Paul Levesque is as equally villainous as Triple H. This is based on the perception that he's held numerous wrestlers down for his own benefit and has actively hindered the WWE product. To his credit, Hunter is aware of these criticisms and has embraced them, working them into his performances as head of The Authority. You can argue it's effectiveness as an overall story arc, but you can't argue that he isn't d*mned talented at making us hate his guts.
