15 WWE Wrestlers Who Lost A Name

2. (Antonio) Cesaro

Mustafa Ali
WWE

Of all the name shortenings in current WWE, this one might be the most notable.

Debuting in WWE as a rugby player who was thrown out of the sport for being too violent, Antonio Cesaro achieved a moderate amount of success, winning the United States Championship and forming a memorable team with Jack Swagger as the Real Americans.

But after two years on the main roster, “Antonio” disappeared and the Swiss Superman became a one-name wonder, winning the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal just a few weeks after shedding his first name. Since then, Cesaro’s career has been a mixture of ups and downs, with the “downs” mostly being him falling short of reaching the main event and breaking through as a true top guy.

Still, it’s hard to argue that Cesaro hasn’t thrived under his shortened name, and there’s always the hope that we’ll see the Swiss Cyborg holding a world championship at some point during his WWE career.
