16 Awesome Stories From Eddie Guerrero Tribute On Talk Is Jericho

9. Eddie's Mullet

The guys laugh about the legendary mullet hairstyle that Eddie used to sport, and that leads to a funny story that takes place during his time in Japan. When he originally came in he was working as himself, but eventually the decision was made to bestow him with the gimmick of Black Tiger; a great honor since the role had previously been played by Mark Rocco. The character wore a mask, and Eddie was excited about the idea. Several of the wrestlers, including Malenko told Eddie that in order to protect his gimmick he'd have to wear the mask out in public. Dean said that when he first put on the mask he was convinced that no one was going to recognize him. Upon first walking into the arena in the mask, one of the Japanese staff saw him and without missing a beat said "Hello Eddie-san!". Dean said he didn't have the heart to tell him that everyone would know who he was as long as his signature mullet was still sticking out of the bag. Chavo jokes that people used to call him "Mull-Latino Heat".
