This existed and was the slightest notch above mediocre and very few people in the stadium cared about it.

It feels harsh to reduce it in such a way, since the performers involved worked very hard towards it and spent practically the entire year dreaming about it, but that's exactly what it was: a spot-fest multi-woman affair put together on autopilot by whoever agented it.

It was generic, and inexcusably so: an actual effort was made to put the men's Showcase together. The idea there was to escalate the get-your-sh*t-in excitement. The last-goal-wins story beat was awesome on night one; on night two, the same thought (and, yes, the execution) simply wasn't there.

The match existed to get heat on Ronda Rousey, who did very little but emerged with the win with a cackle. Since this echoed real sentiment, WWE went the meta route - which feels like another failed experiment with a character that absolutely shouldn't be experimented with. Getting Ronda over as a credible, killer heel should be easy.

WWE makes easy feel hard too often, so if nothing else, this set the tone for the evening ahead...
