The 'Underdog From the Underground' might be the most sympathetic character on WWE television. Even more than Bayley, his career has been about proving himself every step of the way; while she had an extended run as a dominant champion in NXT, Sami was quickly and decisively dethroned by Kevin Owens in his first major title defense.
Everything Sami Zayn gets feels earned, but also, crucially, deserved; when Sami finally won the NXT Championship, it was thanks to a conscious choice to reject using the belt as a weapon, even in a "turnabout is fair play" sense.
