16 Reasons 2014 Was A Terrible Year For WWE

14. Too Many Promos

Though the Authority was conceived in 2013, they really rose to prominence in 2014, during which time they became known for having so€many€long€promos. Call it predictability or a lack of creativity, the point is, almost every RAW during the 2014 calendar year opened with a promo, and of those, almost all of them involved the Authority. Yes, it€™s true that promos help continue storylines and add more depth to rivalries, but the Authority€™s promos have been exceptionally long. Triple H in particular has a penchant to talking slowly, while often saying the same thing each time, albeit a bit recycled. The November 24 episode of RAW was a perfect example of this problem: the first 35 minutes were promos, first by the Authority and then by Daniel Bryan. This poses a serious problem because promos are not what the WWE Universe pay tickets for or tune in to see: to quote an infamous chant, €œWE WANT WRESTLING!€ If the WWE wants to keep fans interested for 3 hours, the best thing to do is keep them excited and interested by starting the segment off with some action, instead of the usual long-winded promos. This isn€™t to say that the Authority always cut boring promos; but that has been the case several times during the 2014 calendar year. Perhaps the best thing to do come 2015 is to include matches to kick off the show that everyone, including TV audiences can see, not just the dark matches for the live audiences.
