After spending a few years in mid-card purgatory without much of a gimmick, Wade Barrett re-invented himself as Bad News Barrett, which was based off of a character on the JBL and Cole Show. Bad News would literally appear randomly and mention something that could be considered, well, bad news. Though it started off on a cheesy note, (sometimes the bad news was that the audience was fat, a local sports team lost, etc.), he gradually became a more popular character. And then, his momentum was also halted, when Jack Swagger threw him into a barricade in June, separating his shoulder. His injury caused him to vacate the Intercontinental Championship, which has since changed hands 5 times. He has since undergone surgery, and has made sporadic media appearances for the WWE. Barrett is rumored to be returning to the WWE sometime in December, so hopefully his return will bring some much-needed animation to RAWs mid-card. And hopefully that happens soon, because the WWE really needs some good news by seeing the bearer of bad news back in a WWE ring where he belongs.
