16 Things We Learned From Mark Henry On Talk Is Jericho

16. His First Match Being On PPV

After Jericho plays Mark his cowbell-filled rendition of his theme song, the two delve into the interesting story of Henry's debut match. He reveals that the first time he ever wrestled a match in front of a crowd was for a pay-per-view, against Jerry Lawler. He says that he was a fan with no idea of wrestling when he was thrown on the card against the experienced veteran. The story behind the match was that Jake Roberts had cleaned up and The King was trying to get him to relapse, and Henry didn't like what was happening and intervened on The Snake's behalf during a Raw segment, which led to their match the following week. Henry says that he tossed Lawler really hard at one point and could see him looking up at Jim Ross with a look on his face of "What have I gotten myself into?"
