16 Things We Learned From Mark Henry On Talk Is Jericho

15. Bonding With The Rock

Mark says that he was essentially the reason for the creation of the developmental system, as Tom Prichard had retired and wanted to train aspiring wrestlers so the company began paying him to train Henry. Pretty soon he was joined by Dwayne Johnson, who moved into the same apartment with Henry. He says that The Rock had just a few dollars to his name and he helped him out by getting him a bed. Johnson was incredulous that Henry would spend his money on a nice watch and Mark said he explained to him that with the money he expected them to make, they'd be able to buy plenty of watches. Rock disagreed and said he'd never spend money on a watch like that, and Henry laughs that now he has his own plane. Jericho asks if the two are still friends and Mark replies that they're tight to this day and always will be because back other than his mother Henry was his only ally. He says he loves him like a brother, and still follows the mantras and advice that Rock gave him to this day of always remembering where he came from whenever things began to get tough. Henry says that the environment wasn't always positive, stating that he would be exposed to people telling racist jokes trying to get a reaction, and one time got heat because he stopped Rock from eating food that someone had sh*t in. Mark says he had to keep Rock from killing somebody over that one, and points out that they would have gotten jumped because of how cliquish the locker room was in those days, name-dropping the Kliq and The BSK.
