WWE TV shows taped in the UK are always weird, off-kilter affairs.
The company were keen to capitalise on the locale when they recorded back-to-back SmackDown/Raw episodes last Friday, which is presumably why they booked reigning NXT UK Champion (and all-round European powerhouse) Walter to collide with Seth Rollins. This is all part of a healing process for Rollins after the indignity of that cred-sapping feud with Bray Wyatt, but it also let WWE spin wheels before Survivor Series.
That pay-per-view is sapping something itself: WWE's Draft, and the rationale of holding it in October when everyone knew cross-brand b*llocks was going to be the law throughout November. If nothing else, the quirky nature of programming right now is letting this article series feast on a healthy platter of hidden gems.
Gems like Kevin Owens hurling unique insults at members of Imperium, WWE stars paying homage to three different Hall Of Famers in the same match, supposed actress Lana mucking up her controversial promo material and Becky Lynch getting revenge for something that happened at the 2019 Royal Rumble.
