17 Things We Learned From Eric Bischoff On Legends With JBL (Part 1)

9. Heat With Jim Ross

JBL brings up that Ross has mentioned in the past how Bischoff fired him whereas Bischoff claimed in his book that he asked for, and was granted, a release. Bischoff flat-out denies firing JR, saying that he was so closely aligned with Bill Watts and that was a problem for him internally. Bischoff says that JR was angry and bitter at the fact that Bischoff was now his boss. Bischoff was aware of that and didn't have anything against JR on a personal level but that he didn't fit the bill as far as his vision of what WCW's announcer should be at that time. He didn't fire him but he did encourage Bill Shaw to grant him his release. Eric didn't want JR gone. JR wanted to go. That's the end of it, as far as Bischoff is concerned.
