17 Things We Learned From John Cena On Chris Jericho's WWE Network Podcast
2. Will He Ever Turn Heel?
Jericho hits him with a question we were all hoping for: if he'll ever turn heel or if it's even been discussed, and how he would feel about it.
"It was discussed briefly, with the program with The Rock. And immediately I ran off like a cartoon, recorded new theme music, got new gear made...was ready to...this was just a casual thing...I'm just trying to do my job the best I can."
Chris follows up by asking if it was something he was looking forward to, and he says he would have made the most of it but that he doesn't want to lose the ability to inspire the kids and let down the fans he does all the Make-A-Wish visits for. He says it's show business and they could explain it away and if there was someone who would and could do it as well as he does, he'd step aside, but for him it's all about validity and he doesn't care if that kid is the only one in the crowd cheering him because it validates him. He says he's open to being a heel - he'll do whatever he's asked - he just hopes someone is waiting in the wings who can take over that role for him.
