17 Things We Learned From John Cena On Chris Jericho's WWE Network Podcast

3. The Split Reaction

We get a question about how Cena deals with the infamous "mixed reactions" that he receives on a nightly basis, which Jericho says began at SummerSlam 2005 in a match between the two of them. John gives a diplomatic answer that's basically a rehash of everything he's always said. Chris asked if it bothered him when it first began and he says it didn't, he was just always "ready to play the game." Chris asks why he thinks the people chant "Cena sucks" at him and he says it's because they want something more and something new, maybe even something intangible. He says they're a TV-PG program and the product is what it is, and seeing kids light up is the main reason why he does what he does. Jericho follows up and asks if he goes over the line from serious Cena to "poopy Cena", and he says it's his feeble attempts to try to remain versatile and avoid staleness.
